Food Bank Initiative Launched by Retailer

Sous le Lit Shoes and Accessories Responds to Food Bank Shortages.

Littleton, Colorado, November 16, 2008.  Sous le Lit Shoes and Accessories is responding to the call to help restock the shelves at the InterFaith Food Bank. The food bank made a plea for donations that was published in the Littleton Independent on October 22nd. Sous le Lit is conducting a week long drive from Saturday, December 6 through Saturday, December 13 as part of their holiday shopping event and is seeking donations to help meet the rising number of requests for assistance. To encourage contributions, Sous le Lit is offering a special for all food donations. If a shopper brings nonperishable food items to the store, they will receive a 10% discount on all purchases made that day. Sous le Lit will in turn deliver the food items to the food bank. Other specials being offered that week are a free pedicure kit for purchases over $150 and free gift wrapping. They will also ship gifts for you. Store hours are Mon - Sat 10 AM to 6 PM and Sun 10 AM to 3 PM.

The food bank has seen a decline in donations and an increase in the number of people needing help. They are concerned that it may be difficult to fulfill all the requests during the holidays. Sous le Lit owner, Liesl Beckmann said, "We have been overwhelmed by the support our store has received since opening and we want to show our appreciation by lending a helping hand to meet this overwhelming community need."
